The cost of translation depends on a number of factors, including the type of translation, the volume of the written text, the language pair, and the deadlines. One page is 1,800 characters, including spaces, in the finished translation. The price for interpreting services is quoted per hour. The prices for translations into the main languages are shown in the price list, but we translate into many more languages. Our main translation languages are Russian, English, Finnish, German, Swedish, Polish, Latvian, Lithuanian, French, Spanish, Italian, and Norwegian. We provide translations from the source language into Estonian and English as well as from Estonian and English into the target language.

What shapes the price of written translation?<\/h3><\/div>

Written translation<\/a> includes the translation of the text and, if necessary and depending on the purpose and use of the text, the editing or proofreading of the translated text and the delivery review. The price of written translation depends on its volume. In the case of written translation, the volume is calculated on the basis of the translation text, i.e. per standard page in the target language.

In Europe, a common standard page is 1,800 characters including spaces, i.e. 30 lines, 60 characters per line.

If the text is on a computer, the volume of the text can be easily determined in Microsoft Word<\/a> by opening Tools > Word Count > Characters (with spaces) and dividing this number by 1,800. If the text is in the Google Docs<\/a> word processor, both the number of words and the number of characters can be checked in a similar way: Tools > Word Count.

If the text requires additional layout or design services, this should be agreed in advance. This will be added to the final price. The price for layout and design is shown per one A4 page.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Interpreting<\/h3><\/div>

Interpreting<\/a> is the process of conveying a message orally in another language as reliably, naturally, and smoothly as possible, while imitating the speaker\u2019s delivery, tone, and persuasiveness. There are three different types:

1. simultaneous interpreting \u2013 an interpreter, seated in a special booth, listens to the presentation through headphones and translates it into a microphone simultaneously with the speaker.
2. whispered interpreting \u2013 one of the forms of simultaneous interpreting. The interpreter stands next to the listener and translates the presentation to the listener in a low whisper.
3. simultaneous interpreting \u2013 the interpreter and the speaker take turns to speak to the audience. When more than two languages are involved, this technique is rarely used due to time constraints.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Do you offer notarized or sworn translations?<\/h3><\/div>

There is no longer a notarised translation service in Estonia. Starting from 2020, this task was entrusted to sworn translators, the only ones in the country with the competence to provide official translations. A sworn translator is required to certify the accuracy of the translated text.
In order to become a sworn translator, it is necessary to pass the sworn translator\u2019s examination administered by the Ministry of Justice<\/a>. However, notaries<\/a> still have the right to apostille documents, should this be necessary.
